Who is Aliya Riaz? Everything about the stunning cricket star

Pakistan women's cricket team emerged victorious after beating South Africa by seven wickets in the second match of the Twenty20 International (T20I) series.

The winning team credited star performer of the game Aliya Riaz for the victory after the young star player finished the game after scoring a six on the first ball of the last over.

Aliya Riaz ultimately became an internet sensation after playing an extraordinary innings against South Africa.

Aliya Riaz life and career:

Aliya Riaz was born in Rawalpindi and currently resides there with her family. The 30-year-old pursued her career as a professional cricketer, challenging the odds.

Aliya first grabbed attention after delivering an unbeaten score of 156 for Lahore Women in the 2014 National Women's Cricket Championship.

She made her ODI and T20I debuts in August 2014 against Australia.

The right-handed all-rounder was named in the Pakistan squad for the 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 tournament in West Indies in 2018. She finished the tournament as the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan with 6 dismissals in four matches.

Aliya’s top score of 71 in T20Is came against South Africa in May 2019, a match which went onto be tied. She was named Player of the Match for her efforts.

The Rawalpindi-born cricketer was shortlisted as one of the Women’s Cricketer of the Year for the 2020 PCB Awards.

She was also included in Pakistan's squad for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020.
