A$AP Rocky is set to go to trial in January, facing allegations of shooting a semi-automatic handgun at his ex-friend and plaintiff, A$AP Relli, following a heated argument.

During a Monday preliminary hearing in Los Angeles, Judge M.L. Villar determined that there was enough evidence for the rapper, also known as Rakim Mayers, to proceed to trial.

He had pleaded not guilty to two charges of firearm assault in August 2022, and the trial pertains to allegations related to the incident on November 6, 2021.

The rapper's lawyer Joe Tacopina said outside the courthouse, "I am certain Rocky will be vindicated of all of this.”

At the hearing, Detective Frank Flores testified, and a recently revealed surveillance video included additional footage compared to the one presented in the prior hearing this month.

In the latest recording, the prosecution claimed that two distinct loud sounds, purportedly gunshots, were audible but not visible.

Flores verified that he examined the footage as part of his inquiry and found that Rocky, aged 35, was holding a firearm during the incident.

Yet, during cross-examination, he disclosed that the gun was never found.

Simultaneously, the two shell casings retrieved by Relli (also known as Terell Ephron) from the location and handed over to the police two days later showed no fingerprints.

The trial for the Everyday rapper is scheduled to commence on January 8th.

During the earlier court session, images of minor injuries sustained by Relli were presented, revealing small areas of raw, bleeding skin on the knuckles of his left hand's index, middle, and ring fingers.

As per legal records acquired by PEOPLE, Relli initiated a civil lawsuit on August 10, 2022, alleging assault, battery, and emotional distress against Rocky.
