Selena Gomez expressed her heartfelt admiration for Steve Martin, emphasizing her concern that many may not fully grasp the depth of his life and contributions as she described him as "an icon.”

The Calm Down crooner extended her support to the Only Murders in the Building co-star by dropping pictures of herself watching his latest documentary, STEVE! (Martin) A Documentary in 2 Pieces.

Taking to her Instagram story section, Gomez posted the snaps along with the caption to shed light on Martin's legacy beyond his public persona.

In a touching caption, the Wizard Of Waverly Palace star wrote about Steve's new Apple TV+ project, “It pains me to know how many people may not know truly about Steve’s life."

She continued, “He’s truly an icon and tried and never gave up … my dear friend you are extraordinary."

A new two-part documentary released on Friday follows the decades-long career of Martin, a 78-year-old comedian and actor.

Oscar-winner Morgan Neville directed and produced the film, and it also offered a glimpse into never-before-seen footage, along with new interviews with Martin and insight into his standup and film career.

Gomez stars in the 2021 comedy-drama series Only Murders in the Building with Martin and Martin Short.
