Everything that went wrong during royal family’s engagement with Trump so far
The royal family’s glorious display for Trump’s arrival experiences a few blips courtesy of the president

King Charles led the reception for President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, aided by his other family members, as they landed in the UK on September 16.
From the minute they arrived, after being greeted by Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Trumps were given recognition befitting a presidential pair.
However, amid the royal establishment’s meticulous planning, it was the American president’s commonly brazen conduct which stood out like a sore thumb.
Additionally, as with everywhere he steps foot, protests and demonstrations followed the royal family’s guest all the way to London and threatened to derail the splendour planned by the Firm.
Without further ado, let’s get into the exact controversial details.
The arrival
Soon after arriving, President Trump took the liberty of manhandling both Prince William and King Charles while greeting them.
Touching the Prince of Wales on the arm after a handshake, Trump further threatened royal protocols “as he patted King Charles on the back and grabbed his arm in a warm display of affection”, per Daily Mail.
Moreover, the head of state overstepped a mark when he informally told Princess Kate while shaking her hand, “You’re beautiful. So beautiful.”
The address
During Trump’s brief address at the state banquet arranged in his honour, the president called America “the hottest country” — an informal remark which may have deterred the formal setting.
On the King’s part, he reiterated his strong stance in the matter of Ukrainian independence, while pointedly including a reference to his country and America’s defence alliance with Australia, the AUKUS, which was recently threatened by the Trump administration’s order of review for it.
“We and our allies stand together in support of Ukraine to deter aggression and secure peace. And our AUKUS submarine partnership with Australia sets the benchmark for innovative and vital collaboration,” King Charles said.
Threats to monarchy
Inviting Trump has not gone down smoothly for the royal family, as their guest’s arrival was marked by a huge projection of his photograph with the late convict Jeffrey Epstein on one side of the Windsor Castle — an action treated as a crime and was followed by four arrests.
Chief executive of the anti-monarchy group Republic, one of the many protest groups for Trump’s visit, Graham Smith said, “It’s time to fix our democracy and defend the country from those who might want to undermine what democratic rights we have, whether that be Charles or Trump.”
