The British Royal family is known for its impeccable and refined tastes, but behind the palace doors, some royals have been known to indulge in a booze.

While the concept of "secret drinkers" in the royal family is speculative, it is documented that few family members have struggled with alcohol.

Let's look at some of the royal family's history of drinking and the stories behind their choices:

Prince Harry

In 2021, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex has often opened up like never before about how tried to block out the pain of losing his mother Princess Diana in 1997.

In his younger days, Harry was a fan of the classic combo Red Bull and vodka, though his favourite brand of the spirit was reported to be Ciroc Ultra.

"I was willing to drink, I was willing to take drugs, I was willing to try and do the things that made me feel less like I was feeling," Harry said, adding, "But I slowly became aware that, okay, I wasn't drinking Monday to Friday, but I would probably drink a week's worth in one day on a Friday or a Saturday night."

According to the prince, he was trying to mask something.

Princess Margaret

Princess Margaret was a heavy drinker, with her preferred drinks including Scotch whisky The Famous Grouse, often served with a dash of water and Malvern Water and gin.

She was also known to have a preference for champagne in the evenings.

Her excessive alcohol consumption, along with a severe smoking habit, contributed to her declining health and eventually led to several strokes.

Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth aka The Queen Mother was known for her steady and heavy drinking habits, according to sources like People.com and The Telegraph.

Her consumption of alcohol included a daily routine of a gin and Dubonnet, red wine with lunch, port, and martinis, followed by champagne in the evening.

The Queen Mother had a strict daily drinking schedule, starting with her signature gin and Dubonnet at noon, and having martinis at 6 p.m. for the "magic hour".

Moreover, a recent biography suggests that the Queen Mother's drinking during her first pregnancy may have caused her daughter, Princess Margaret, to suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome

Apart from them, some of the royal members who used to drink openly were Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Kate, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
