Prince William and Kate Middleton are ready to begin anew — their “forever home” a testament for what’s to come.

A year after Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment, and a few months following an intrusion at their Adelaide Cottage, the couple’s decision reflects the desire for a clean slate for themselves and the future of their three children — Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte.

However, the residence which the family is yet to move into is already shaping up to be a concern for their new neighbours.

What to know about the ‘forever home’

The Prince and Princess of Wales are preparing to move into Forest Lodge, situated in the Windsor Great Park.

Their move comes after having spent three years at Adelaide, moving into the residence in 2022, with a source telling BBC that while the family’s previous dwelling will always remain special to them, shifting to Forest Lodge will be “an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind.”

To note, Forest Lodge is an impressive £16 million property, furnished with double the amount of rooms as Adelaide Cottage. While William, Kate, and the kids previously occupied a four-bedroom space, the family will now have an eight-bedroom accommodation to call home.

Why the move is already causing trouble

Per latest reports, the Kensington household has struck a nerve with local residents before even moving in. The conflict pertains to a rigid security detail which has already disturbed the peace of those living in the community since ages.

The Sun has reported that the royals are implementing “a huge no-go area banning locals from land near their new home.”

Among facilities the local residents are set to lose, on the behest of the Home Office, include the closure of a car park and gate access “which locals forked out £110 a year to use, shut for good at 7pm.”

Among many complaints recorded by the news outlet, one woman said, “Many of us have been walking our dogs here for 20 years so to be told we can’t any more is a kick in the teeth.”

However, Prince William and Princess Kate will be able to count on the support of some of their neighbours still, as one of them told the tabloid, “We love the royals and William and Kate and it’s so exciting they are moving to Forest Lodge. It’s clear this car park closure has not come from them, but is down to security concerns.”
