Jesse Eisenberg on why he’s donating his kidney to a stranger
'It’s essentially risk-free and so needed,' Eisenberg said
Jesse Eisenberg is taking kindness to a whole new level.
The 'Social Network' star revealed on NBC’s Today that he plans to donate one of his kidneys to a stranger next month.
In an appearance on NBC’s Today, Eisenberg shared, “I’m donating my kidney in six weeks,” adding, “I don’t know why. I got bitten by the blood donation bug. I’m doing an altruistic donation mid-December. I’m so excited to do it.”
The 41-year-old actor further said, “It’s essentially risk-free and so needed. I think people will realise that it’s a no-brainer, if you have the time and the inclination.”
Notably, over 100,000 people in the US are waiting for organ transplants, and about 12 lose their lives each day due to the shortage.
Meanwhile, in the UK, 8,186 people remain on the waiting list, with nearly 4,000 more temporarily suspended but still in need of transplants.
