Simon Cowell is setting the record straight about where he stands with Ryan Seacrest today.
The former American Idol judge, who sat on the panel from the show’s 2002 debut until 2010, revealed that his once-close Hollywood friendship with the longtime host hasn’t continued.
“I don’t follow his career if I’m being honest with you,” Simon told The New York Times in an interview. “So, I don’t know what he’s done or doing. We rarely talk now if I’m being honest with you.”
“He does work hard,” Simon said, adding that the host was “very, very ambitious” and “steely about his career, wanting to be famous.”
Ryan has remained a fixture on American Idol since the series returned from a two-year break in 2018.
He will be back again for Season 24 in January, joining judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood.
