'Titanic' star gets honest about working on her directorial debut along with her son Jon Anders
Kate Winslet has recently revealed why she decided to take on a directing role for the upcoming film Goodbye June .
The 50-year-old English actress shared that she made her debut as a director for this movie mainly because of the powerful script, which was written by her son Joe Anders.
During her December 5 appearance on the Graham Norton Show, the Titanic star shared she was the “driving force” in bringing her son’s script to the big screen.
She mentioned that it was hard for to "let it go” after reading the script, so she took the decision to go behind the camera for the first time in her career.
Gushing over her son's potential, Kate stated, “My wonderful son wrote it.”
For those unversed, the Revolutionary Road actress disclosed that her son wrote the script during a screenwriting course, inspired by the death of his maternal grandmother back in 2017 at the age of 13.
“When I read it, I said, ‘You’ve written a movie and we are going to make it,’” the Oscar-winner shared.
Speaking of becoming a director at 50, The Holiday star added, “It was an extraordinary experience.”
