Since its 2003 debut, America's Next Top Model has been a cultural juggernaut, yet its journey has been as turbulent as a high-fashion runway.

Created by Tyra Banks, the series completed 24 cycles before vanishing from screens in 2018. Despite two previous cancellations due to dwindling ratings and the departure of fan-favourite judges like Nigel Barker, a revival may finally be on the horizon.

In the 2025 Netflix docuseries Reality Check, Banks sparked fresh hope for a comeback. She reflected on her career and teased the audience: "You can't imagine what we have lined up for cycle 25."

While she previously told E! that the decision rests with "higher authorities," her passion for shifting perspectives remains. However, a reboot would face modern scrutiny. The show has been criticised for its controversial photoshoots and the harsh treatment of contestants.

Former winners have also shared the "reality TV" stigma that hindered their professional growth. "I was told designers were reluctant to book me because they associated me with a reality show personality," explained Danielle Evans.

Banks, however, remains proud of the show's impact. Regarding the initial 2015 end, she wrote: "Our loyal fans know we've broadened the concept of beauty... It's truly time."

Now living in Australia, Tyra seems ready to prove that the "time" for a new era has arrived. Whether the industry is ready to welcome back the "smize" remains to be seen, but the creator is clearly ready for one more walk.
