Amid the ongoing dialogue about her "harmful" mom group, Ashley Tisdale French recognises her need for "frequent pauses" from social media.

The mother of two shared a recent blog entry on the topic of social media on Monday (February 23).

In a post on Instagram Stories promoting this, she informed her followers, "I enjoy social media, but it’s not where our lives should fully unfold."

"I discussed why I take frequent breaks—and how much more present I become as a result," she added, next to an image of herself relaxing in bed, clad in pajamas and enjoying a coffee.

In the article titled "Does Your Brain Feel Overwhelmed? Step Away from Social Media," Tisdale French expressed her fondness for social media "in various respects" because "it can amuse, inspire, and keep us linked."

Nonetheless, when she takes a break, she noted, she is reminded of "how it feels to be truly engaged—to not be partly present while wondering, 'Wait, have I shared something today?' "

The act of sharing on social media, Tisdale French mentioned, had once felt "automatic."

She reflected on moments where she would capture a photo and "immediately" consider uploading it onto Instagram rather than savoring the experience.

"When I’m detached from social media, I spend more time with friends, more time with my kids, and more time truly embracing each moment," she expressed. "Not surprisingly, these moments are richer when I’m not arm's length with my phone, trying to appear casual."

Tisdale remarked that the aspect that "drains my mind" regarding social media is the "vast amount of information."

She highlighted that her initial break from the platform offered her a "gift of insight" which she "strongly" urges others to try.

Tisdale's latest entry follows the aftermath of her "Breaking Up With My Harmful Mom Group" piece for The Cut.
