First look at HBO Harry Potter series teaser revealed
HBO announces Christmas Day launch for first season of Harry Potter adaptation
The wait for the next chapter of the wizarding world is over, as HBO has unveiled the first look at its highly anticipated "Harry Potter" television series.
Confirmed for a global premiere on Christmas Day 2026, the adaptation of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone" promises a faithful retelling of the beloved novel.
The debut teaser trailer opens with a poignant scene of a young Harry Potter living in the cupboard under the stairs at the Dursley household, moments before his life is transformed by the arrival of his Hogwarts acceptance letter.
The footage captures several iconic milestones from the first book, including Harry’s initial meeting with the groundskeeper Rubeus Hagrid and his celebrated run through the magical gateway at Platform 9¾.
Fans also caught their first glimpse of the central trio meeting aboard the Hogwarts Express. The series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, with Alastair Stout portraying Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton taking on the role of Hermione Granger.
Supporting the young leads is a formidable ensemble of veteran actors. Six-time Emmy winner John Lithgow stars as Albus Dumbledore, while Paapa Essiedu takes on the role of Severus Snape.
They are joined by Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall and Nick Frost as Hagrid. Directed by Mark Mylod and executive produced by J.K. Rowling, the project has been in production at Leavesden Studios since July 2025.
This first season, consisting of eight episodes, marks the beginning of a planned decade-long commitment to adapt all seven novels for a new generation.
