Secret settlement between Kim Kardashian and Ray J revealed in legal dispute

Kim Kardashian and Ray J reportedly reached a confidential $6 million settlement in 2023 aimed at silencing public discussion surrounding their infamous sex tape, according to newly surfaced legal documents obtained by TMZ.

The agreement, titled a “Confidential Settlement Agreement and Mutual General Release,” was signed by Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, alongside Ray J and his mother, Sonja Norwood. 

It broadly covered all past, present, and future disputes related to the tape, seeking to formally close the long-running controversy.

Under the terms of the deal, all parties agreed not to make disparaging remarks about one another, including statements that could harm each other’s reputation, business practices or integrity. 

The agreement also included provisions preventing Ray J from pursuing claims against platforms such as Hulu or Disney, where The Kardashians airs.

The settlement has come to light as part of an ongoing legal battle between the parties. 

Kardashian and Jenner previously filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J, alleging that his public claims, including suggestions of a federal investigation, were fabricated.

In response, Ray J filed a countersuit, disputing longstanding narratives about the release of the sex tape and claiming the agreement included a $6 million payment along with strict confidentiality clauses. 

He further alleged that financial penalties were outlined in the contract for any breach.

Ray J has also accused Kardashian and Jenner of violating the agreement by discussing the sex tape on their Hulu reality series shortly after the deal was finalized, a claim that now forms part of the broader legal dispute.

The resurfacing of the settlement underscores the enduring legal and public complexities tied to one of the most high-profile celebrity controversies of the past two decades.
