A young man confessed to causing the death of another man, a father of two, by colliding with him using his car when he was reportedly engaged in watching TikTok videos while driving.

Norman Case was struck in his car by Ismaeel Malik in Kelvedon, Essex, on October 22, 2024, according to the Essex Police.

At around 9:30am local time, emergency services were alerted to an accident and Case, 58, was pronounced dead at the location.

Malik, 22, was allegedly watching TikTok when he crashed into the rear of Case’s car, as reported by the BBC, referencing information from Essex Police.

The police claimed that the 22-year-old had a history of watching TikTok videos while driving.

Malik was detained at that time under suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He confessed in court on Thursday (March 28), and his sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday (April 29).

Case had just dropped off his two kids at school on that morning when he lost his life in the crash.

“After leaving Fraser and Kate at the school bus stop, they never expected it would be their last moment with their father,” stated Case's wife, Sarah, via a statement from the Essex Police. “Mr. Malik caused Norman's death, and our lives will never be the same again.”

“Norm was the energetic spirit in our family, and now there's an immense emptiness that can never be replaced. Even simple things like having dinner together or watching sports with his usual 'Norm' remarks have irreversibly changed,” Sarah added.

Case was employed in business development at the audio-visual equipment company Handy AV, as stated on his LinkedIn profile.

He was also a player for the third team at Maldon Cricket Club, his wife Sarah mentioned.

A GoFundMe page was initiated by B-Tech Golf Day to assist Case’s family following his passing.
