Official cause of death of Patrick Muldoon has been confirmed following sudden passing earlier this month
Patrick Muldoon, the actor best known for his memorable roles in Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, died from a myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, according to newly released official records. He was 57.
Muldoon passed away suddenly on April 19, and while early reports indicated he had suffered a heart attack, his death certificate has now confirmed the medical cause in detail.
The document also listed pulmonary embolism and hereditary coagulopathy — a genetic disorder that affects the body’s ability to form blood clots properly — as contributing underlying factors.
According to reports, the actor’s remains were cremated on April 28.
Just days before his death, Muldoon appeared to be in high spirits and shared his excitement on social media over the upcoming crime thriller Kockroach, in which he served as executive producer alongside stars Chris Hemsworth and Taron Egerton.
Muldoon rose to fame in the 1990s as Austin Reed on the long-running soap Days of Our Lives and later gained further recognition as Richard Hart on Melrose Place.
He also appeared in fan-favourite projects including Saved by the Bell and the cult science-fiction film Starship Troopers.
Following news of his passing, tributes poured in from colleagues and longtime friends across Hollywood, many remembering him for his warmth, charisma and generous spirit.
Muldoon is survived by his partner Miriam Rothbart, his parents, his sister Shana Muldoon-Zappa, and extended family members.
