Amanda Seyfried swaps red carpet prep for farm life ahead of Met Gala appearance
The actress says her farm life keeps her grounded amid Hollywood glamour
Amanda Seyfried traded red carpet glamour for a quiet morning on her farm as she revealed an unexpectedly low-key start to her Met Gala preparations.
The Mean Girls star shared that before stepping onto one of fashion’s most high-profile stages at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, she spent time at her Catskills home surrounded by animals, including her pet donkey, Gus.
Speaking during Vogue’s red carpet livestream alongside Ashley Graham and Cara Delevingne, Seyfried described her morning routine as both calming and grounding.
“I was rubbing his ears this morning to get ready,” she said of her donkey, adding that the peaceful start helped balance the transition to the spectacle of the Met Gala.
“It’s nice to come to the giant Met Ball having just been walking to the clovers and petting the goats and horses.”
The 40-year-old actress, who lives on a farm with her husband, Thomas Sadoski, and their two children, noted that her rural lifestyle offers a stark contrast to the glitz of Hollywood events, something she has come to value deeply.
On the fashion front, Seyfried revealed a refreshingly candid side to her preparation, admitting she wore shapewear beneath her pink Prada gown and is currently dealing with acne.
“I’m on medicine right now for acne on my chin,” she shared, prompting Delevingne to relate with a similar experience.
Seyfried added that she has kept her skincare routine simple, moving away from frequent facials she once relied on.
The actress has long spoken about the benefits of her life away from Los Angeles, previously describing her move to upstate New York as “essential” for her mental well-being.
Surrounded by animals including goats, horses, chickens and her beloved dog Finn, she credits the lifestyle with helping her maintain balance.
