Teyana Taylor shares lighthearted Met Gala moment with co-chair Beyoncé
The actress says she planned to get Beyoncé dancing at the Met Gala
Teyana Taylor arrived at the Met Gala 2026 in New York with a playful mission already in mind, reuniting with close friend Beyoncé and getting her to dance on fashion’s biggest night.
The 35-year-old One Battle After Another star spoke on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she revealed her lighthearted plan to bring energy to her interactions with Beyoncé, who served as one of the event’s co-chairs alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.
“I can’t wait to get in there and be like, ‘Oh girl, what’s going on?’” Taylor said during an interview with Extra, explaining that every time she sees Beyoncé, she makes it a point to get her dancing despite the superstar’s typically low-key red carpet presence.
“B will be chilling real low-key in the corner, and I walk up. I be like, ‘Let’s go,’” she added, describing their long-standing friendship dynamic.
Taylor joked that she often takes the lead in breaking the formal atmosphere around the music icon.
Taylor’s appearance at the gala also reflected her bold fashion sensibility. She wore a custom silver fringed design by Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford, paired with a matching sculptural headdress.
The look aligned with this year’s theme, Costume Art, which explored fashion as a form of artistic expression.
Speaking to Vogue, Taylor described her outfit as a “ghost of a body,” noting how its reflective design appeared to shift and disappear with movement.
Beyond fashion, Taylor has often spoken about her long-standing connection with Beyoncé, which dates back to her teenage years.
She has credited the singer with offering early career advice, including the importance of resilience and separating emotion from business decisions.
