  • Matt Reeves teased a winter setting for the upcoming Batman sequel on social media.
  • Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson have joined the cast as Harvey and Gilda Dent.
  • The film is officially in production and scheduled for a late 2027 release.

The Dark Knight’s wheels are receiving a significant winter upgrade as production begins on "The Batman: Part 2".

Director Matt Reeves provided the first official glimpse into the sequel on Thursday by posting a teaser image on X.

The photograph, captioned with the hashtag "SnowTires", showcased the iconic Batmobile during a mid-camera test.

While specific plot details remain under wraps, the imagery confirms that the long-gestating project is finally moving forward and will be set during a harsh Gotham winter.

Robert Pattinson is confirmed to return as Bruce Wayne, navigating the next chapter of his vigilante career. He will be joined by returning cast members Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.

Barry Keoghan is also expected to reprise his role as the Joker. The 2022 original was a major success, grossing 772 million dollars worldwide and establishing a raw, noir-tinged aesthetic for the franchise.

The sequel has also announced high-profile additions to its ensemble. Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson has joined the cast as Gilda Dent, the wife of Gotham’s district attorney.

Joining her is Sebastian Stan, who has been cast as Harvey Dent, a character famously known for his eventual transformation into Two-Face.

Furthermore, "Game of Thrones" veteran Charles Dance will portray Charles Dent, Harvey’s father. Reeves co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin and expressed immense pride in the story during a recent interview. The film is currently scheduled to open in theatres on October 1, 2027.
