Cardi B shares haircare horror story as she prepares to launch beauty brand

Cardi B is keeping it candid as she gears up for the launch of her haircare brand, revealing a memorable DIY mishap that left her smelling like “a chicken Caesar salad” for months.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 24, the rapper shared that experimenting with raw garlic in her hair routine turned into a long-lasting regret.

According to Cardi, she skipped boiling the ingredient and applied it directly—only to deal with the lingering scent for six months.

“I put garlic in it, but I put it too raw,” she said, adding that every time she sweated, the smell resurfaced. Host Jimmy Fallon joked about the unintended perk of repelling vampires, to which Cardi quipped, “Well, I am the vampire.”

The moment, while humorous, underscored the trial-and-error journey behind her upcoming brand, Grow-Good Beauty, set to launch in April.

The line draws directly from her personal experience experimenting with at-home remedies, including rice water and onion-based treatments.

Cardi, born Belcalis Almánzar, explained that years of hair damage pushed her to research and create her own formulas.

“I really put the work in on my hair,” she said in a recent interview, noting that her kitchen-made treatments ultimately helped restore its health.

The brand’s debut collection reflects that journey, featuring shampoos, conditioners, a treatment mask and a shine-enhancing serum—all priced at $20 and under.

Despite the lighthearted tone of her late-night appearance, Cardi also addressed criticism surrounding her new venture.

In a candid social media livestream, she pushed back at detractors, emphasizing the personal significance of the project and the struggles she faced with her hair over the years.

While she noted she has tried to engage less with online negativity, the rapper made it clear that her haircare line is rooted in lived experience.

“It’s my story,” she said, reinforcing her commitment to sharing what worked for her with a wider audience.
