Sarah Jessica Parker and Andy Cohen tease shopping picks at Primark NYC launch
The pair praised the retailer for combining affordability with stylish, well-made clothing
Sarah Jessica Parker and Andy Cohen stepped out in New York City to celebrate the VIP launch of the new Primark flagship store, offering a glimpse into their shopping habits and favourite sections ahead of the opening.
The longtime friends attended the exclusive event at the retailer’s new multi-floor location in Herald Square, where they spoke with People about the appeal of affordable fashion and what draws them back to the brand.
Cohen, 57, joked that shopping at Primark often leads to unexpectedly large hauls, noting that the prices make it easy to buy far more than planned without making a noticeable dent in the wallet.
“It is the type of store that you go around and you wind up buying way more than you thought you were going to buy,” he said, highlighting the brand’s budget-friendly appeal.
Parker, 61, said she has been a long-time fan of the international retailer, praising its combination of affordability and quality since first discovering it during overseas visits.
“I cannot get over the pricing and that they have really created affordable clothing that looks really good and is really well-made,” she said, adding that she believes the brand has “figured out the secret” for accessible fashion.
The Sex and the City star also pointed out how practical the store is for families, noting that children quickly outgrow clothes and frequently damage items during everyday wear.
Cohen was quick to guess where he would head first inside the massive store, with Parker predicting he would immediately visit the children’s section — a claim he agreed with.
“I wish I could sneak up there tonight,” Cohen said, explaining that he had to leave the event early to return to work at the studio.
Parker, who shares three children with actor Matthew Broderick, said she plans to recommend the store to her daughters, noting that even her family’s usual preference for secondhand shopping could shift with the arrival of affordable new options.
Cohen also joked about parenting-related clothing needs, while Parker added that the store’s pricing makes it especially appealing for growing teens.
The new Primark flagship store is now open in New York City, marking a major expansion for the Irish retail brand in the U.S. market.
