Justin Herbert opens up about emotional proposal to fiancée Madison Beer
After confirming their engagement, Justin Herbert shares that asking Madison Beer to marry him was even more intimidating
Justin Herbert has revealed that proposing to Madison Beer was even more nerve-wracking than making his first NFL start.
The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback opened up about the milestone during a press conference on July 29, one day after he and the singer announced their engagement.
When asked whether proposing to Beer or making his first NFL start was more intimidating, Herbert did not hesitate.
“The proposal for sure,” the 28-year-old replied.
Herbert explained that, unlike his unexpected first start for the Chargers in 2020, he had plenty of time to plan the proposal before the upcoming NFL season.
The couple shared the happy news in a joint Instagram post featuring photos from the romantic outdoor proposal.
One image showed Herbert on one knee, while another captured the newly engaged couple celebrating together as Beer showed off her diamond ring.
“Meet my fiancé,” the singer captioned the post.
Herbert and Beer first sparked dating rumors in August 2025 after they were spotted together in Los Angeles.
The couple kept their relationship largely private before making more public appearances, including being photographed together at an NBA game and sharing affectionate moments on the sidelines during a Chargers game.
Last month, Beer described their relationship as arriving at “the perfect time” in her life.
Speaking on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, the 27-year-old singer said, “When I’m having a convo with my boyfriend, my hair could be on fire, and I wouldn’t notice.”
She added that Herbert was “the first person” she had ever felt that way about, calling their relationship mature and saying their first date took place at her home because they wanted to avoid public attention.
The couple announced their engagement on July 28 after nearly a year of dating.
