Former pageant queen Brynn Carnesecca dies by suicide at 21, remembered for her kindness and talent
Brynn Carnesecca, a former Miss American Fork titleholder, has died by suicide at the age of 21, with her family and community remembering her as a talented musician, writer and compassionate person.
Carnesecca’s family confirmed her death on Sunday, July 26, according to local news outlet KSL. She was crowned Miss American Fork in 2024 and later earned the title of Miss Congeniality while competing in the Miss America Utah pageant.
The young pageant queen had been preparing for another competition, with her Instagram bio noting that she was set to compete in the Miss Provo pageant on Aug. 22.
Beyond pageantry, Carnesecca was known for her accomplishments as a pianist and aspiring journalist.
Her mother, Michele Carnesecca, told KSL that she wanted her daughter to be remembered for the meaningful life she lived.
“She is more than what happened to her,” Michele said.
Carnesecca had contributed writing to several publications, including the American Fork Citizen, Lehi Free Press, Utah Valley Magazine, Good Things Utah and Brigham Young University’s student newspaper, The Daily Universe. She had also interned at KSL during the summer of 2025.
A vigil was held in her honour at the American Fork Amphitheater on July 28, where community members wore yellow, shared memories and wrote messages celebrating her life.
The Miss American Fork organization paid tribute to Carnesecca on Instagram, remembering her for her kindness, passion and support for others.
“There are no words to express the heartbreak of losing you, Brynn,” the organization wrote. “Your beautiful smile, your kindness, your passion, and the way you supported everyone around you will never be forgotten.”
Carnesecca’s cousin, Kassidy Jackman Murdoch, also honoured her memory through a GoFundMe fundraiser created to help with funeral expenses, describing her as a “bright light” in her family and community.
“Brynn dedicated herself to sharing stories and spreading kindness. Her passion for helping others was evident in everything she did,” Murdoch wrote.
Friends and loved ones have continued sharing messages of remembrance on Carnesecca’s final Instagram post, reflecting on the impact she had on those around her.
