Kate Cassidy is setting the record straight after fans questioned why she decided to remove tattoos honouring her late boyfriend, Liam Payne.
The 27-year-old influencer revealed she is undergoing laser treatments to temporarily remove several tribute tattoos, stressing that the decision has nothing to do with her feelings for the late One Direction singer.
Instead, she plans to have the meaningful designs redone in a finer style and in a different location.
In a TikTok video shared from Skin Club Miami, Cassidy documented the laser removal process for a pair of angel wings on her fingers and the angel number "444," explaining that while she cherishes the symbolism, she was never happy with how the tattoos turned out.
"These tattoos are really special to me," Cassidy said. "I am going to get them redone, but I'm going to get them really faint and fine line."
She explained that the original tattoos, which she expected to be delicate, ended up looking "thick" and "bulky."
Cassidy also revealed that their placement on her fingers made it difficult to wear rings, prompting her decision to relocate the designs.
The angel wings carried deep personal meaning for Cassidy, who described Payne as her "angel" following his death in October 2024 at the age of 31.
She also had "444" tattooed after revealing a handwritten note from Payne that referenced the couple's hopes of marrying, reading: "Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444."
After facing criticism online, Cassidy responded directly to claims that removing the tattoos meant she no longer loved Payne.
"I knew some of you guys would be offended," she said in a follow-up TikTok. "The meaning behind all my tattoos are so, so special to me.
I'm not lasering them off for any other reason than I'm going to get them redone somewhere else."
Cassidy reiterated that she simply wants the tribute tattoos recreated by an artist experienced in fine-line work while preserving the sentimental meaning behind them.
