Chase Sui Wonders calls Madonna ‘the coolest’ after The Studio collaboration
The actress says Madonna was 'funny as hell' and fully committed to the comedy series during production in Venice
Chase Sui Wonders has nothing but praise for Madonna after working alongside the music icon on the upcoming season of Apple TV+'s The Studio.
The actress described the pop superstar as both hilarious and hardworking, saying the experience exceeded all of her expectations.
"It was better than you ever could have possibly imagined," Chase told Entertainment Tonight.
"Madonna is the coolest—everyone knows this, but she's also funny as hell and such a hard worker, and really was excited to show up for our show, which felt very surreal."
She also praised co-star Julia Garner, calling the Ozark actress "an absolute star."
Madonna and Garner filmed scenes for The Studio in Venice, Italy, earlier this year alongside series creator Seth Rogen. Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Bryan Cranston, Kathryn Hahn and Ike Barinholtz were also part of the production.
During filming, Madonna and Garner were spotted riding through Venice's canals while lip-syncing to Madonna's 1984 hit Like a Virgin, delighting fans with behind-the-scenes footage.
The appearance also served as a playful nod to the long-discussed Madonna biopic that ultimately never moved forward.
The singer recently revealed that her planned film with Universal Pictures stalled because of disagreements over the project's budget.
"I needed a big budget," Madonna explained in an interview with Interview Magazine. "I've had an extraordinary life."
She said the studio struggled to justify the scale of the production, even after she explored ways to reduce costs by filming in Serbia.
Following the collapse of the movie, Madonna shifted her attention to developing a television series with Netflix. However, she explained that the process also proved challenging, as she was unable to use the script written for Universal without purchasing it back.
Despite the setbacks, Madonna said she remained determined to keep creating.
"I need to work, I need to create. I need to do what I was put on this earth to do," she said.
