Andy Grammer welcomes baby No. 3 with wife Aijia ‘Our family is complete’

Andy Grammer is celebrating two major milestones after welcoming his third child with wife Aijia Grammer while preparing to release a new album later this year.

The 42-year-old singer revealed that the couple welcomed daughter West Lizette Grammer on June 17, just weeks before he kicked off his headlining tour in support of his upcoming album, Big Stupid Heart, due for release on Oct. 16.

"We're officially outnumbered," Grammer told People while announcing the family's newest addition.

The couple, who are already parents to daughters Louisiana "Louie," 9, and Israel "Izzy," 6, said their eldest daughter helped inspire the baby's name.

"We were trying to figure out if we were going to keep going with the location thing, and then from the backseat Louie said, 'What about West?'" Grammer recalled. "My wife and I were like, 'Honestly, that's really good,' so we call her Westie."

Grammer also praised his wife for enduring hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), a severe pregnancy condition she experienced during all three pregnancies.

"There wouldn't be anything else worth her going through this except these little girls," he said, calling Aijia an "absolute hero."

Aijia described the latest pregnancy as particularly challenging but said welcoming West completed their family.

"We are thrilled little West has joined us and made us a family of five," she said. "This third pregnancy with hyperemesis gravidarum was intense, but we feel that now our family is complete."

She also revealed that her husband presented her with a humorous "Purple Heartburn Award" medal to recognise everything she endured during pregnancy, saying it made her feel truly appreciated.

As he adjusts to life with a newborn, Grammer admitted balancing fatherhood with a national tour and a new album has been both demanding and rewarding.

"To be able to do both of these at the same time — family, and then putting out a record that I just love and can't wait to play live — it's a stressful, wonderful period in life," he said.

Grammer explained that Big Stupid Heart reflects the challenges and rewards of loving deeply.

"The album is about how much cost there is to loving deeply, and the decision to still do it," he said. "Keeping an open heart is the boldest thing anyone can do."
