Sarah Snook discloses experience that left her 'dying inside'

Sarah Snook has shared an experience that left her 'dying inside', revealing that she was body-shamed twice in her acting career.

In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Snook talked about the time when a film producer scolded her in front of everyone for eating a "tiniest bit of chocolate cake."

The Succession star revealed that the experience left her "dying inside," even though a costume designer supported her and told her to keep eating.

Snook also confessed that she never confronted the producer for body-shaming her because she was "too young and naive" at that time.

The 36-year-old actress said, "That’s the unfortunate situation when a person is in a position of authority taking advantage, mindlessly saying something that could be taken the wrong way and taken on in a certain context that holds with that person for the rest of their life."

Moreover, Snook shared  that she previously accepted changes to her diet, saying "in order for me to be successful, I have to be all the things that aren’t me."

Talking about what another casting director told her, Snook shared that she was told, "We don’t really want you because you’re a nobody, but the director and the writer think you’re good for the role."

"So what we’ll do is change all of you so that you’re marketable, we’ll whiten your teeth, darken your hair, we’ll give you a personal trainer so you can lose weight and look the part," she added.

 Snook, who recently won the outstanding lead actress award at the 2023 Emmy Awards, also mentioned that she no longer follows any dietary restrictions imposed on set.

The Dressmaker actress said, "I eat whatever I want, it’s my own body and my own choice."
