Selena Gomez mother Mandy Teefey has stepped forward in support of her daughter as she recently faced criticism for the frequent disappearance from her social media handles.
The mother of Only Murders In The Building star defended and showed support during the conversation with Elite Daily that Gomez did not make any specific limits related to her break from social media.
Teefey, 47, shared that Gomez, who made waves with her budding romance with music producer Benny Blanco, finally determined the duration of her breaks, as she stated “Whatever time Selena needs, she gives herself.”
The Calm Down hitmaker's mother also disclosed that Gomez oftentimes took brief breaks from social media but she consistently resumed her various activities on different platforms.
“I can go a week without looking at any social media, and then I'll get on there and I'll try to catch up,” she admitted.
While persuading people to take breaks from social media for the sake of mental health, she added, “You're more at ease, in your world, and living in the moment. It's so much more peaceful.”
Gomez's mother revealed how she took her mental health days with her daughter, she shared, “We come together, and we plan a movie day; we cook food and just kind of relax and hang out. Then, we all end up falling asleep.”
However, the Monte Carlo star also opened up about her hiatus from social media during the conversation with Instyle.
She stated, “'Taking a break from social media was the best decision that I've ever made for my mental health.”
It is pertinent to mention that her earliest break was in 2016, after repealing some dates on her Revival Tour.
At that time she was the most followed celebrity on Instagram.
She announced her latest brief hiatus from social media after attending the Golden Globes Awards in early January.
