Uma Thurman opens up about her parenting style

Uma Thurman recently shared insights into the parenting style that she opts to follow.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, the 55-year-old actress opened up about the balance she maintains between her personal and professional life.

"You don’t want to make a girl be obedient. It’s not in her best interests," the Kill Bill actress told the publication.

She continued, "It’s kind of wonderful that they know the rules and don’t always listen."

"As a mother, the freedoms I was given as a teenage girl are mind-boggling. I mean, it’s unimaginable. Those were different times," Thurman said, fondly reminiscing about her own upbringing.

The Pulp Fiction performer recalled becoming financially independent at the tender age of 15, sharing that she explored the city by herself with just "a Filofax and a quarter in case I got lost and needed to call someone."

Towards the end, she gave the due credit to her parents, Robert Thurman and Nena von Schlebrügge, for creating such an atmosphere in the household.

"Both my parents did the same sort of thing when they were young. They were very independent. So I think there was a certain amount of being raised to be independent," the Batman & Robin actress remarked.

It is worth noting that Uma Thurman shares Maya, 26, and Levon, 23, with Ethan Hawke, and Luna, 13, with Arpad Busson.
