Chris Hemsworth is choosing to focus on the present, even as he faces a higher genetic risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

In his new Disney+ documentary A Road Trip to Remember, the Thor actor opens up about carrying two copies of the APOE4 gene but says he refuses to let fear shape his life, as per The Mirror.

Hemsworth explains that the condition is a real conversation in his world, especially after learning he is eight to ten times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s. Still, he says he isn’t letting the possibility take over his mind.

“It's not a problem at this point, and it may never be,” he says in the film. “So I’m far more focused on my dad right now… I feel like it’s too far off, hopefully. I’d rather just continue on with life.”

The documentary follows Chris and his father, Craig, as they take a heartfelt motorcycle trip across Australia.

Craig, who is experiencing early-stage Alzheimer’s, has “good days and bad days,” Chris shares.

The journey takes them through their old homes in Melbourne and the Northern Territory as a way to spark memories and spend meaningful time together.
