Gavin Casalegno, Madelaine Petsch team up for Wattpad adaptation ‘Chasing Red’
Shooting for 'Chasing Red' is expected to begin in 2026
Isabelle Ronin’s popular Wattpad romance Chasing Red has been greenlit for a movie adaptation with Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch and The Summer I Turned Pretty actor Gavin Casalegno confirmed to take on the lead roles.
Mackenzie Munro is set to direct the film, working from a screenplay by Lauren Schacher (“Hooking Up”).
Chasing Red centers on Veronica (Madelaine), a straight-A student determined not to become college heartthrob Caleb’s (Gavin) next “conquest,” even though a chance encounter leaves them undeniably drawn to each other.
As their connection deepens and sparks fly and secrets come to light, love and betrayal intertwine in a captivating slow-burn romance.
The upcoming project brings together Greg Silverman and Grant Torre of Stampede Ventures (“Motor City”) and David Madden and Jason Goldberg of Webtoon Productions (the “After” franchise).
Production is set for December 2025, while shooting of the film is slated for next year, according to Variety.
It is also pertinent to note that Gavin, 26, will be reprising his role as Jeremiah Fisher for The Summer I Turned Pretty movie.
