Prince William is paying tribute to one of the world’s most famous conservationists, Steve Irwin, as the day approaches for the 2025 Steve Irwin Gala in Brisbane.

Appearing in a video shared by Wildlife Warriors on Instagram, the Prince of Wales celebrated Steve’s legacy, with a significant nod towards his son, Robert Irwin, as well. Robert serves as an ambassador for the Earthshot Prize founded by the 43-year-old royal.

“Steve’s mission in life was to safeguard life on our planet, and tonight’s event is all about carrying forward that dedication to conservation and the natural world,” William said in his early remarks.

While the organisation founded by Steve and his wife, Terri Irwin, shared in its caption, “Honouring Steve’s legacy and his lifelong mission to protect our planet, we extend our heartfelt thanks to His Royal Highness, Prince William, for welcoming our guests to the 2025 Steve Irwin Gala in Brisbane.”

Proceeding to celebrate the latest Dancing with the Stars winner and fellow conservationist, the future monarch said, “We couldn’t have asked for a more passionate and committed ambassador in Robert, and he’s not a bad dancer either. That clearly runs in the family too.”

Notably, Robert’s elder sister, Bindi Irwin, had also won a previous edition of DWTS in 2015.

Prince William, along with Kate Middleton, had also joined in the congratulatory messages for Robert Irwin and his dance partner, Witney Carson, after the pair won the most recent season of DWTS on November 25. “Congratulations Robert and Witney!” the royal couple’s comment read on the youngest Irwin’s one Instagram post, out of many, celebrating his victory.

Meanwhile, the Steve Irwin Gala takes place in Brisbane, Australia November 29.
