According to Financial Express, the Founder and Chairman of Reliance Industries made headlines after finalizing a 49% stake in the London-based cricket franchise Oval Invincibles, a deal estimated at £60.3 million ($80 million / ₹645 crore).
The team is set to be rebranded as Mumbai Indians London (MI London) in January 2026, marking one of the biggest international expansions of an IPL-rooted sports legacy.
The purchase includes both the men’s and women’s teams, further strengthening what Ambani describes as the “MI Family,” a cricketing institution that has shaped more than a decade of Indian sports entertainment.
While Surrey County Cricket Club retains the majority stake, Ambani’s move signals a clear intent.
