LA Film Critics Awards 2025: ‘One Battle After Another’ becomes hot favourite after latest win

Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest directorial One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is quickly moving ahead in the best picture race after clinching yet another prize.

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards announced its winners for 2025 on December 7 and the movie co-starring Chase Infiniti, Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro, and Sean Penn bagged three wins — best picture, best director, and supporting performance (Taylor).

According to Variety, the thrilling drama’s latest victory has increased its Oscar chances since previous winners like The Hurt Locker, Spotlight, Moonlight, Parasite, and Anora all “went on to capture the Academy Award for best picture.”

Other significant prizes handed out by the LA film critics association included those received by Ethan Hawke and Rose Byrne for their leading performances in Blue Moon and If I Had Legs I’d Kick You respectively.
