Ed Sheeran shares heartfelt thoughts on friendship with Taylor Swift: 'Feels like no time has passed'
The 'Sapphire' singer remembers meeting Taylor Swift and their creative spark
Ed Sheeran recently offered insight into his long-standing friendship with Taylor Swift.
In a conversation on The Hollywood Reporter’s Award Chatter podcast, the 34-year-old singer opened up about how he and the 35-year-old pop icon first connected, describing their bond as something that feels “very similar to sibling.”
Sheeran reminisced meeting “Frank,” believed to be Frank Bell from Swift’s management team, while he was opening for Snow Patrol in Nashville in 2012.
At the time, the Sapphire hitmaker said he asked the team member to pass along the message if the Opalite songstress “ever wants to write a song, I'm around.”
“I knew that she knew my music,” Sheeran added, recalling photos of Swift performing with “the lyrics to ‘Lego House’ on her hand.”
Their initial writing session quickly blossomed into a deeper creative partnership.
“Then we met, and then we wrote, and then I don’t know,” Sheeran admitted, noting that despite being “the opposite sex” and coming from different backgrounds, he feels “very intertwined creatively with her.”
Their connection grew during the Shape of you singer’s time as an opener on Swift’s Red Tour, where they spent more time together “as friends and collaborators and performers.”
Toward the end of the conversation, Ed Sheeran confessed that although life has gotten busier, he and Taylor Swift still catch up “from time to time,” and whenever they do, they instantly reconnect as if “no time has passed.”
