Julia Roberts and Sean Penn recently reflected on powerful roles in their latest movies.
Both stars reunited for Variety’s Actors on Actors where they talked about their longtime friendship, career and life beyond spotlight.
Interestingly, Julia opened up about the collaborative process behind her After the Hunt movie.
“Luca and Andrew [Garfield] and Ayo [Edebiri] and Chloë [Sevigny] came to our house and sat for days and days at our kitchen table, and we had all these conversations,” stated the Pretty Woman actress.
Julia noted that bright people “share their ideas and their feelings and then they listen intently”.
“It's the listening that I feel we've gotten the farthest from in culture,” remarked the Ticket to Paradise actress.
Meanwhile, Sean talked about the themes of shame and personal growth in his One Battle After Another movie.
“Not everything is supposed to make you comfortable,” he said.
Sean continued, “There’s a lot of talk therapy today, what I call the trauma industry.”
“But sometimes you need to sit with shame, learn humility, and grow,” concluded the actor.
