Taylor Swift makes shocking confession about her favourite show 'Dateline'
Taylor Swift revives talks about her obsession for 'Dateline' on Stephen Colbert's show
Taylor Swift is opening up about her longtime love for Dateline.
The 36-year-old singer has been vocal about her obsession with the NBC investigative news series, and she recently confirmed that it hasn’t faded.
During an interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, December 10, the Blank Space singer shared how she unwinds when she’s not working, citing Dateline as a favourite pastime.
"My kind of profession is coming up with ideas for stuff. So, if I can turn off the ideas for a second? Very exciting," the Grammy winner told Colbert. "I'll put on — I'll put on my 'Dateline', do you know what I mean?"
Her passion for the show even inspired a song on her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Swift explained that the track Florida!!!, featuring Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, was influenced by Dateline’s crime stories.
The Cruel Summer songstress further said on iHeartRadio, “I’m always watching like… Dateline, people have these crimes that they commit, where do they immediately skip town and go to? They go to Florida, they try to reinvent themselves, have a new identity, blend in.”
Reflecting on heartbreak as part of the inspiration, she added, "I think when you go through a heartbreak, there’s a part of you that thinks, I want a new name, I want a new life, I don’t want anyone to know where I’ve been or know me at all. So that was the jumping-off point behind where would you go to reinvent yourself and blend in? 'Florida!!!'"
Moreover, Taylor Swift has even hosted Dateline stars on her tours.
Dennis Murphy, a correspondent for the series since the ’90s, called her "the most wonderful human being" after being invited to her Reputation Tour, noting, "She invited us to come to her stadium tour and we got to go to the green room. When I introduced myself, she said, ‘I know who you are.’ That was mind blowing."
