G-Dragon, Blackpink’s Jennie, Rosé rule the Melon Music Awards 2025
The 2025 Melon Music Awards were held on December 20 in Seoul
Solo artists dominated this year’s Melon Music Awards (MMA) with K-pop icon G-Dragon emerging as the night’s biggest winner alongside Blackpink’s Jennie and Rosé.
He swept seven awards, including all three Grand Prizes, Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Song of the Year.
G-Dragon additionally claimed the Top 10 award, Millions Top 10 album award, Best Solo Male Artist and Best Songwriter honours.
Accepting the Artist of the Year prize, he said, “There’s not much I can say besides that I’m happy and grateful, but once again, thank you and I’ll do even better.”
He added, “I’ll keep working hard to do my part and become an artist worthy of this moment… I want everyone here to know that I think we’re all artists.”
While Blackpink members Jennie and Rosé also made a strong showing, earning a combined six awards as solo performers.
Jennie and Rosé each took home three awards. The Kill This Love singer won Record of the Year for her solo album Ruby, along with the Millions Top 10 and Top 10 awards.
The 28-year-old singer received the Millions Top 10, Top 10 and Best Solo Female Artist honours.
While, accepting her award, Jennie said, “I'm so grateful to receive such a big award… I miss our members, and being alone feels lonely. Blinks, I always love you.”
Elsewhere, Rookie of the Year went to Allday Project and Hearts2Hearts, while IVE and BoyNextDoor won Best Female and Male Group, respectively.
For the unversed, the event was hosted by Kakao Entertainment as the 17th MMAs were held at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome under the theme “Play the Moment.”
