14-year-old girl killed after being lured into isolated woods
Investigators say Troy was shot multiple times and then set alight
Two Florida teenagers will stand trial as adults over the killing of a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly shot dead and set on fire in a deeply disturbing incident.
16-year-old Gabriel Williams and 14-year-old Kimahri Blevins have been indicted on charges of first-degree murder in the death of Danika Troy, according to the state attorney office, as reported by WEAR News.
Both boys are accused of luring the schoolgirl to a walking path in Pace, Florida, before killing her.
Investigators say Troy was shot multiple times on November 30. Her body was then set alight, leaving it so badly burned that she could only be identified by her shoes and the scooter she had ridden to the spot. The scooter was found close to her remains.
Troy was reported missing by her mother in the early hours of December 1, just hours after the alleged killing. Her body was discovered the following day, shortly before midday on December 2.
Prosecutors announced on Friday that both suspects will be treated as adults when the case goes to trial.
Williams and Blevins were arrested within days of Troy’s death and have remained in juvenile detention since. Authorities have not disclosed a motive, and no trial date has yet been set, according to officials.
