Chris Evans’ return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been confirmed in the official release of a new teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.

The 44-year-old actor is the only performer included in the newly released footage, which was previously leaked.

Originally scheduled to be shown before Avatar: Fire and Ash theatre screenings, the Doomsday teaser leaked online, where Evans’ Marvel hero was discovered to have become a father.

Both of the leaked and the official teasers end with the announcement: “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”

While sharing the footage to Instagram, the Russo Brothers described Rogers as “the character that changed our lives.”

First joining the MCU as the directors behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier, their caption further revealed, “The story that brought us all here together. It was always going to come back to this…”

Furthermore, according to The Hollywood Reporter, “A Thor-focused teaser featuring Chris Hemsworth has also allegedly surfaced online.”

Avengers: Doomsday will be released into cinemas on December 18, 2026.

Meanwhile, Chris Evans had previously stated that he had “happily retired” as Captain America/Steve Rogers, last playing the superhero character in Avengers: Endgame (2019).
