The Pitt is preparing to tackle another timely issue in its upcoming third season.

Star and executive producer Noah Wyle revealed that the show plans to explore the growing concerns surrounding Medicare cuts after winning the Actor Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.

Season 2 of the HBO Max medical drama has already woven in storylines involving AI-driven medical tools, video remote interpreting and immigration enforcement.

Looking ahead, Wyle said the series will continue drawing from real-world healthcare challenges.

“There’s never a shortage of storylines to pull from in an emergency room,” Wyle told reporters following his win. He added, “When you have characters that are as rich and diverse and as multi-dimensional as the ones that we have, it’s very easy to just sort of plot them into the future and figure out what they would be struggling with at that point. But, obviously these cuts in Medicare, the ones that are going to affect Americans and put them off the rolls, hospital closures, there’s all sorts of very pressing issues that are facing hospitals and health care workers in America, and we’ve only scratched the surface.”

Recent federal proposals under President Donald Trump could reportedly increase the number of uninsured Americans in the coming decade while significantly reducing healthcare spending.

Wyle also joked that his daughter had already made room for the new trophy. “The mantle is getting full,” he said, noting she had confidently cleared space in advance.
