Dax Shepard gave fans a glimpse into why he missed the 2026 SAG Actor Awards, where his wife, Kristen Bell, served as host.
The “Armchair Expert” podcaster revealed on Instagram that he was scheduled for a colonoscopy on Sunday, just hours before the star-studded event.
Shepard shared a screenshot of a text detailing his procedure schedule, using the hashtag #colonoscopyprep. In one playful exchange, he joked about “eating a steak smothered in seeds and nuts” as part of his pre-procedure diet.
Despite his absence, Shepard posted a heartfelt and humorous shout-out to Bell ahead of the show.
Sharing a promotional image of his wife, he warned fans, “CAUTION: DO NOT watch if you’re allergic to effortless charm, tasty wit, velvety vocals, world-class mimicry, high-in-tight buns, timeless beauty or Disney-level Adorability… buckle the f–k up!!!”
Bell, 45, opened the evening at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with a monologue that poked fun at Hollywood stage names and included a song, hinting at her signature musical flair.
She wore a sheer, beaded purple gown by Georges Hobeika, while emphasising that hosting for her is not about roasting others.
The couple, married since 2013, share two daughters, Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11. Shepard, 51, may have missed the red carpet, but he made sure to support Bell in style—and with humor—via social media.
