Teddi Mellencamp gives hopeful health update amid stage 4 cancer battle
The TV star is recovering after a rare medication triggered Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
Teddi Mellencamp has provided a hopeful update regarding her ongoing battle with cancer.
The media personality and TV star, diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2025, told People at the iHeartRadio Music Awards red carpet that she is “actually doing well” and that “things are moving along nicely.”
She revealed that she recently underwent immunotherapy and has another session scheduled in two weeks.
“You know, I kind of ride the wave,” Mellencamp said, reflecting on her approach to maintaining mental health during a stressful health journey.
During the ceremony, Mellencamp also presented her father, rock legend John Mellencamp, with the iHeartRadio Music Icon Award.
Her latest update follows a frightening medical emergency earlier this month.
Mellencamp developed Stevens-Johnson Syndrome — a rare, life-threatening skin disorder triggered by medication. She described the experience on her Two T’s in a Pod podcast:
“I thought I had the flu. And then I woke up one day, and my whole body was just covered in, like, this terrible rash — like, you can't even say it's a rash because it's almost like sores all over my entire body,” she recalled.
Mellencamp’s cancer journey has been intense. Initially diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, she underwent 17 surgeries.
In 2025, her cancer metastasized to the lungs and brain, making her current treatment regimen all the more crucial.
Despite the challenges, Mellencamp remains positive and focused on recovery, offering inspiration to fans following her journey.
