‘Shrinking’ star Cobie Smulders praises Harrison Ford as ‘one of the greats’
A powerful reunion and a legendary co-star made the finale unforgettable
Cobie Smulders opened up about the emotional season 3 finale of Shrinking, sharing behind-the-scenes insight and what it meant to work alongside Hollywood icon Harrison Ford.
The 43-year-old actress reprised her role as Sofi, whose complicated relationship with Jason Segel’s Jimmy reaches a turning point in the finale.
After a rocky stretch, the pair ultimately reconnect thanks in part to Jimmy’s mentor Paul, played by Ford.
In the episode’s closing moments, Paul orchestrates a surprise meeting between the two, helping bridge the emotional distance and bringing their storyline full circle.
For Smulders, sharing the screen with Ford was a standout experience.
“Harrison is one of the greats,” she said, describing the moment as personally meaningful. “To be able to be in a scene with him is just a really exciting moment of my life, she told People.
She added that the on-screen dynamic between Paul and Jimmy reflects the real-life respect Ford commands, noting that his presence carries a natural authority.
“When Paul speaks, people really listen,” she said, highlighting the layered mentor-mentee relationship that anchors the series.
Smulders also praised the ensemble cast, calling the experience of joining the show both humbling and rewarding.
She singled out her reunion with Segel, her former co-star from How I Met Your Mother, as a seamless return to a familiar dynamic.
“I still feel the same closeness to Jason,” she shared, adding that their chemistry quickly fell back into place on set.
Beyond the central storyline, Smulders expressed appreciation for the wider cast, including Lukita Maxwell, Michael Urie, Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, and Luke Tennie, describing the group as “incredibly talented.”
Season 3 of Shrinking, now streaming, continues to explore grief, connection and healing through humor with its finale delivering a heartfelt resolution that underscores the importance of friendship, guidance and second chances.
