Buckingham Palace unveils King Charles's tribute for Queen Elizabeth II's 100th birthday
Queen Elizabeth II reigned for over seventy years before passing in September 2022
Ahead of the 100th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's birth, Buckingham Palace has unveiled a preview of King Charles's tribute to her.
The King's address will be aired nationally and throughout the Commonwealth tomorrow.
Additionally, scheduled events in London today and on Tuesday (April 21) will see the Royal Family come together for commemorations.
The King and Queen Camilla will be at the forefront of these tributes, along with other royals, attending four official events over the course of the two days.
The program kicks off with a visit to an extensive fashion retrospective at The King's Gallery, followed by a ceremony at the British Museum to unveil new memorial designs.
The Princess Royal will separately open a new memorial garden in Regent's Park, with the commemorations wrapping up with a reception at Buckingham Palace.
This event will bring together individuals celebrating their own 100th birthdays on the same date as the late Queen's centennial.
The fashion showcase at Buckingham Palace is the largest collection of the late Queen's attire ever displayed, featuring over 300 items.
Attendees will see outfits from the Queen's christening, including bridesmaid dresses, her wedding gown, and her Coronation dress.
During the weekend, it was announced that the King has taken on the role of Royal Patron for the new Queen Elizabeth Trust, a charity that will be officially launched on Tuesday, the late monarch's 100th birthday.
The Government has pledged a £40 million fund to kick off three memorial projects celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's legacy.
The independent Trust aims to offer funding for UK communities looking to rejuvenate shared spaces.
Potential projects could focus on transforming neglected buildings, improving green spaces, creating local gathering areas, and supporting skills development for hosting events.
The Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee consulted with groups across the UK for two years before forming the charity.
Sir Damon Buffini, the Trust's inaugural chair, commented: "This is a unique opportunity to support communities across the UK and revitalize shared spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can meet, connect, and feel included."
He added: "As an organisation, we are ambitious about our potential impact and are committed to growing our influence by gaining additional support."
Lord Janvrin, chair of the memorial committee, expressed hope that the charity would inspire people to remember the late Queen's commitment to building community bonds.
Two additional memorial projects will also be introduced alongside the Trust on Tuesday.
These include a National Memorial featuring a significant landmark and gardens in St. James's Park, as well as a Digital Memorial to honor the late Queen's life and extensive public service.
Together, these initiatives represent the collective efforts behind the lasting tributes to Elizabeth II, who reigned for over seventy years before passing in September 2022.
