Rivalry rumours resurface as Katy Perry plans wedding before Taylor Swift
Katy Perry is reportedly considering a June wedding to surpass her former rival
- Katy Perry is reportedly planning a June wedding with partner Justin Trudeau
- The ceremony may take place before Taylor Swift’s rumoured July wedding date
- Insiders claim Perry is prioritising her heart over traditional relationship rules
Katy Perry and her partner, Justin Trudeau, are reportedly considering marriage, with suggestions that the singer may be looking to expedite the ceremony.
This development follows reports that her contemporary, Taylor Swift, is also expected to wed this year, with a date likely set for July.
According to a report from Heatworld, some allege that the long-standing rivalry between the two pop icons remains a factor. This has raised the possibility of Perry "one-upping" the Carolina singer by arranging her own nuptials in June.
An anonymous source claimed, "She’d love to beat frenemy Taylor Swift down the aisle. That’s not the reason Katy is looking at doing hers in June, but it would be an added bonus."
However, insiders suggest that competition is not the primary motivation for the accelerated timeline. Rather, the decision stems from the singer's desire to trust her personal instincts.
A source noted that this would not be the first time Perry has entered a marriage quickly, referencing her previous relationship with Russell Brand.
The source observed that Perry waited a significant period before considering marriage with Orlando Bloom to avoid past mistakes, yet found that caution did not guarantee success.
"It’s made her realise there are no hard and fast rules, so she’s decided to just follow her heart," the insider concluded.
Perry and Trudeau have reportedly been engaged in serious discussions regarding their future over recent months, focusing on identifying the most appropriate moment to proceed.
Perry previously mended her public rift with Swift in 2019 following years of professional friction.
