Family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez speaks out following murder charges
Parents, Jesus Rivas and Mercedes Martinez, describe Celeste as a beautiful young girl
The family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez has broken their silence a day after the musician D4vd was charged with murder and other serious offences.
In a poignant statement issued via their solicitor, Patrick Steinfeld, her parents, Jesus Rivas and Mercedes Martinez, expressed gratitude towards the Los Angeles Police Department and the District Attorney's Office.
"We would like to thank the Los Angeles Police Department and the District Attorney's Office for their hard work," the couple stated. They also thanked the residents of Lake Elsinore for their support during this difficult period.
"Celeste was a beautiful, strong girl who loved to sing and dance," the emotional statement continued.
Her parents recalled how every Friday night was reserved for movie nights together, adding, "We love her very much and she always told us that she loved us. We miss her deeply. All we want is justice for Celeste."
Mr Steinfeld noted that the family intended to deliver these words during the first court appearance, but remained away due to a bomb threat.
The victim was discovered in an impounded Tesla trunk in Hollywood in September 2025. LAPD Captain Scot M. Williams confirmed it was "very likely Celeste Rivas Hernandez had been dead for several weeks" before the discovery.
D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was arrested on Friday and has since pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder involving special circumstances.
The 21-year-old artist rose to global fame with his viral bedroom pop tracks before these recent legal allegations emerged.
