The professional footballer Alamara Djabi is currently recovering in a hospital after being stabbed in Herning, Denmark.

The nineteen-year-old midfielder, who represents the Danish club FC Midtjylland, was attacked over the weekend, according to a formal statement released by the team on Tuesday.

Djabi sustained serious injuries during the incident and was required to undergo two emergency surgeries to save his life.

Following these procedures, the young athlete was placed into a medically induced coma.

However, the club has since confirmed that he has woken up and is "doing well" under the care of medical professionals.

"Our thoughts are with our teammate, his family and friends and we wish him a continued speedy recovery," the official statement from FC Midtjylland read.

The club further requested that the public and media respect the privacy of Djabi and his loved ones during this incredibly difficult period.

Local authorities have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.

The team confirmed it is cooperating fully with officials while providing direct support to the player’s family as he continues his rehabilitation.

A promising talent from Guinea-Bissau, Djabi has been a rising star within the Danish league. He previously spent time on loan with the Portuguese side CD Mafra during the last season, where he made seven appearances.

In August 2025, he also featured for Midtjylland in the Europa League qualifying playoffs. Known for his technical ability in the centre of the pitch, the footballing community has expressed widespread support for his recovery following this traumatic event.
