Authorities in Georgia have arrested and charged a twenty-three-year-old man in connection with a violent assault and rape that occurred earlier this month.

Ezekiel Jackson was taken into custody following an incident at his residence in Canton on April 6.

According to a press release from city officials, an investigation revealed that the victim had arrived at the home to provide cleaning services after being contacted by Jackson via a messaging application.

The victim alleged to police that upon her arrival, Jackson attacked her with a screwdriver before sexually assaulting her multiple times.

An arrest warrant cited by local media suggests the assault was particularly brutal, alleging that Jackson used the screwdriver to stab the woman in the eye.

Investigators further allege that the woman was held against her will for seven hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., during which time she was subjected to continuous abuse in various rooms of the house.

The woman was eventually able to secure her escape by convincing Jackson to take her to a hospital.

She reportedly maintained a pretence that they were in a relationship and that her severe injuries were the result of an accidental fall.

Once safely at the medical facility, she alerted staff to the assault. Jackson, who had remained at the hospital awaiting her discharge, was immediately apprehended by police.

He is currently being held without bond on charges including three counts of rape, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, and aggravated assault.
