Michael Jackson eldest son shares rare insights into father's childlike nature
Prince Jackson describes his childhood at Neverland during an interview on Channel Seven
Prince Jackson, the eldest son of the late Michael Jackson, has provided a rare and intimate look into the "childlike" nature of the legendary King of Pop.
Appearing on Channel Seven’s Sunrise on Thursday, the 29-year-old producer shared details of his upbringing while discussing the development of a new biopic focused on his father’s life.
Reflecting on his formative years, he admitted that maturing has changed his perspective on his childhood. "As I've gotten older, I've learned that a lot of what I think is normal life is not normal life," he observed.
The producer described life at the Neverland ranch as a "magical" experience shared with his siblings. He recalled a domestic setting where family time was set against an extraordinary backdrop of elephants and giraffes roaming the grounds.
Despite the scale of the estate, the daily routine involved grounded activities. "We spent a lot of time playing board games together, reading books, and watching movies," he stated, comparing the environment to a "personal Disneyland."
Prince highlighted his father's dedication to parenting, noting that the singer prioritised play over rigid adult behaviour.
According to Prince, his father was frequently involved in making up stories and playing with toys directly on the floor.
He also revealed that the pop star possessed a mischievous streak, often playing pranks on those around him.
Michael Jackson shared Prince and his sister, Paris, with his former wife, Debbie Rowe, and was also the father of Bigi, formerly known as Blanket. Prince continues to uphold his father’s creative legacy through his work in music video production and film.
