Rebel Wilson denies 'outrageous' claim she orchestrated leak of nude photo in legal battle
Rebel Wilson has strongly denied allegations that she was involved in a cyber attack
Rebel Wilson has firmly rejected allegations made in court that she orchestrated a cyber attack targeting actress Charlotte MacInnes, amid an ongoing defamation case connected to Wilson’s film The Deb.
MacInnes is suing Wilson in Sydney, claiming the actor and director damaged her reputation by making and later retracting allegations linked to a complaint involving producer Amanda Ghost.
As part of her testimony, MacInnes also alleged that Wilson was behind a hacking incident that led to a private nude image being distributed from her Snapchat account shortly after legal proceedings began.
In court, MacInnes described the incident as “terrifying” and said it caused significant emotional distress, adding that she believed it had been organised by Wilson.
Taking the stand, Wilson strongly denied any involvement, dismissing the suggestion that she was responsible for a hack.
When questioned by MacInnes’ lawyer, she called the claim “an absolutely outrageous statement” and insisted she had no role in any cyber intrusion.
The court also examined Wilson’s social media activity relating to The Deb, including a post in which she criticised MacInnes over an outfit worn during an appearance at Cannes.
MacInnes’ legal team argued the post was unprofessional and damaging, while Wilson defended it as a truthful account rather than an attack.
The dispute also centres on earlier allegations involving an incident during pre-production of The Deb, which MacInnes and Ghost have disputed in detail.
The case remains ongoing, with Justice Elizabeth Raper presiding over the proceedings in Sydney.
